About Me
So you want to know all about me? Well OK!
Well, you know my name otherwise you probably wouldn't be here. I'm 21 years old, and I was born on the 9th October 1988 in Middlesbrough, United Kindom, where I still live (though I did live in Merseyside for a lot of my childhood, I only returned to Middlesbrough 4 years ago). I have blue eyes, and brown/ginger hair. I'm about 6ft 2" tall and I have a thin build.
I have many hobbies, but my favourite is Web Design. I also enjoy Amatuer Radio, Renewable Energy, playing PC games, Camping, Programming and Photography.
BetaArchive...
I run a successful beta software and application collection website (www.betaarchive.co.uk) which is my biggest web achievement to date. I take pride in knowing I have brought a community of people together to discuss what they love collecting. I also host what is possibly the worlds largest beta file repository on the web, which currently stands at 1007GB.
Freelance...
I enjoy doing some freelance web design work for whoever can offer it. I am currently doing some work for (www.dunboyneit.com), which is an Irish computer repair company run by the father of a very good friend of mine.
Camping...
My hobby of camping is quite extensive, and only began in the last few years. You can see the pictures in my gallery. It all started when I went for the first time in 2005 with my secondary school friends. I loved it so much I went the next year. From then on I just loved it more and more. In 2007 my family got together and bought me my own tent and equipment so I didn't have to keep borrowing from my Auntie and I could go away on my own independantly. I can't thank them enough, and the equipment has already paid for itself in the fun I've had on the trips away.
Amateur Radio...
I got into Amateur Radio when I met someone called John down the New Brighton promenade (in Merseyside, where I used to live) when sailing our model boats. We became friends and he told me about Amateur Radio. I was instantly interested, and some months later I went on to get my Foundation license, and a year or so after that I got the intermediate license. Since getting my license I kept in touch with John and many of those on same course I attended. Unfortunately when I moved back to Middlesbrough I lost interest in the hobby in favour of other things, but I still have the equipment and I do still go on air to see who is about, but usually all I hear is static!
Web Design...
I started Web Design at the age of around 14, when my friend John (mentioned above) told me about making websites in proper HTML rather than Microsoft Word. He started me off with the basics and over the period of 3 years I ended up knowing more than he did after more than 10 years of using it himself! If it weren't for John I probably wouldn't be where I am today in terms of Web Design.
Renewable Energy...
I can't quite remember what got me into renewable energy, but its a very addictive and expensive hobby to explore. In the last few years I have set up my own small renewable energy system (which can be seen on www.repowered.co.uk), which can power my desk light and various other applicances for a short period. While no where near enough to power my PC, let alone my house, it is a very addictive hobby and no matter what you do, you find yourself going back to it again and again. It also gave me a significant insight into real world power usage and how much we needlessly waste, and how easy it is to conserve energy without really trying.
Photography...
This isn't one of my strongest hobbies but it is there, and it can be seen on every holiday I go on in the form of images in the gallery. I don't have any special equipment, just a cheap "point and shoot" camera, but it does the job and brings me some stunning results.
Employment...
I am currently unemployed but as I said above, I do some freelance web design from time to time. I am currently looking for a job (July 09) so if you are interested in employing me please e-mail me for my CV using the contact page.
